MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – As SUNY Orange closed out its first Summer academic session and moved into the second half of its Summer 2026 offerings, it did so with 1.5 percent more students, marking its fourth consecutive Summer of year-over-year enrollment increases and its 14th straight academic session of growth, dating to Spring 2023.

As of its July 1 enrollment report, SUNY Orange’s summer student roster stood at 1,568, its highest mid-Summer total since 2020 (1,640). Additionally, this Summer’s FTE (full-time equivalent) comparison is running 1.9 percent higher. Beginning in the Spring of 2023, the College has posted higher enrollment for four successive years while watching Summer enrollment grow 53.3 percent in that span. More than three-quarters (76.2 percent) of Summer 2026 students are continuing students who were also registered at SUNY Orange during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

“I applaud our entire College community for its work in helping us increase enrollment for 14 academic sessions in a row,” said SUNY Orange President Dr. Kristine Young. “Summer courses can play a tremendously strategic role in a student’s overall academic progression toward a degree. I commend our continuing students for recognizing the value of Summer courses, and appreciate that visiting students are willing to entrust a portion of their academic journey to us in looking to complete courses that can transfer back to their primary campus.”
