November 6, 2026

Tarah Miller, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the SUNY Orange Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program, received the New York State Occupational Therapy Association (NYSOTA) President’s Award during the organization’s President’s Reception and Awards Ceremony at The Saratoga Hilton in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026. The ceremony was part of the 2026 NYSOTA Annual Conference.

“Tarah has been an indispensable volunteer with the NYSOTA Conference for several years, contributing her time, energy, and talents to every aspect of its success. From researching conference venues to coordinating fundraising efforts alongside Donna Frazier and stepping in wherever help is needed, Tarah consistently demonstrates an extraordinary willingness to serve and support the profession,” said Michelle Scanlon, president of NYSOTA.

“In addition to her conference involvement, Tarah co-chairs the NYSOTA OTA Affairs Committee with Donna Frazier, helping bring attention to important issues affecting occupational therapy assistants throughout New York State. Her work also extends to the Academic Affairs Alliance Steering Committee, where she contributes to initiatives that support academic collaboration and the continued growth and advancement of the profession,” Scanlon stated.

Donna Frazier, chair of the SUNY Orange OTA Program, said, “I am incredibly proud to see her receive this well-deserved recognition. Tarah’s commitment extends far beyond her professional responsibilities. She is deeply dedicated to the College, our OTA students, and the prospective students exploring occupational therapy as a career.

Through her work with current students and those in the pre-OTA pipeline, she helps cultivate the next generation of occupational therapy practitioners while fostering enthusiasm for the profession and its meaningful impact on individuals, families, and communities."

Miller also shared what the recognition means to her.

“I feel honored to be this year's recipient of the NYSOTA President's Award in recognition of my leadership, long standing partnership with the organization and my dedication to advocating for the OTA profession in New York State. This is particularly meaningful to me as it reflects my commitment to advancing our profession, supporting future OTA practitioners and promoting the importance of OTA's role in the field of occupational therapy.”
