Coronavirus Update: April 17
April 17, 2020College community,
New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued an Executive Order requiring all people in New York to wear a mask or a face covering when out in public and in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained.
Effective Monday, April 20, employees, students and community members who have an essential need to be on either of SUNY Orange’s campuses will be expected to abide by this executive order. Keep in mind that only essential employees are required to be on a campus and that all other members of the College and general communities are to be staying away from the campuses while adhering to the Governor’s New York Pause population density and social distancing guidelines.
At present, our supply of masks is extremely limited. Masks, if needed by essential personnel while on-campus only, can be acquired by contacting the Middletown campus Security office at 341-4710. We ask that you please call Security in advance to request a mask. This will allow Security personnel to plan for your arrival and to establish proper social distancing guidelines for exchanging the mask.
If you are more comfortable wearing a mask you’ve acquired, or a face covering that you’ve made or fashioned yourself, you are welcome to do so.
Even while wearing masks or face coverings, social distancing rules still apply. If you are able to maintain proper social distancing while on a campus, a mask or face covering is not required. When social distancing guidelines cannot be met, a mask or face covering is required.
