Periodical Collection
Print Periodical Subscriptions
The SUNY Orange Library holds dozens of subscriptions to humanities, sciences, social
sciences and general interest periodicals in print. In the Middletown library these
print subscriptions are housed in the Periodical Room towards the back of the library's
first floor. In Newburgh periodicals are kept on the reference shelves toward the
front of the collection shelves.
Print periodicals may be discovered using the library's article search tool: https://suny-orn.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01SUNY_ORN:ArticlesOnly
Databases and Electronic Periodical Subscriptions
We currently subscribe to 67 periodical databases, which in turn allow you to access
the full text of articles from hundreds of periodicals (magazines, journals, newpapers).
To access lists of the databases go to Databases A to Z or Databases by Subject.
Use the Electronic Journal Search* to search for specific journals, magazines or newspapers available electronically
and the databases in which they can be found.
Use the Electronic Article Search* to find a "known" article; that is an article that you know exists and for which
you have some information (e.g. title, author, publication, etc.). The more information
you can provide the greater chance of finding the article. If the SUNY Orange Library
has access to an electronic version of the article, you will be provided a list of
links to the online databases containing that article. If the library does not subscribe
to the article in electronic form you will be given the option of requesting the article
via interlibrary loan. InterLibrary Loan information can be found in MySUNYOrange under the Library Tab and the Library Services Portlet.
