What is ASAP?

The Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) Program is an opportunity program designed to help students stay on track, overcome barriers, and successfully progress towards graduation.

Through personalized support, financial assistance, academic guidance, and a connected community, ASAP provides students with additional resources and opportunities throughout their time at SUNY Orange.

• Financial Support - Help with college-related expenses, including stipends for textbooks and other costs associated with attending college
• A Dedicated Advisor - Personalized guidance and support from registration through graduation, with an advisor who will work with you throughout your time at SUNY Orange
• Priority Registration - Early access to upcoming semester registration, helping you secure classes that best fit your schedule and keep you on track toward graduation

ASAP Student Responsibilities

Once accepted into the program, ASAP students are expected to:

Meet Regularly with Your ASAP Success Coach/Advisor

Building a connection with your advisor and maintaining contact throughout the semester is an important part of ASAP. Regular check-ins allow us to support your progress, answer questions, and connect you with resources throughout your time at SUNY Orange.

Enroll Full-Time and Maintain Good Academic Standing

ASAP students are expected to maintain full-time enrollment (12+ credits) during the fall and spring semesters and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students are encouraged to take 15 credits when appropriate and utilize summer or winter courses as needed to stay on track.

Participate in ASAP Workshops and Events

ASAP offers workshops and events throughout the fall and spring semesters focused on academic success, career and transfer planning, and building connections with fellow ASAP students. Students are encouraged to participate regularly to make the most of the resources and opportunities available through the program.

Apply for Financial Aid Each Year

ASAP students are expected to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) applications each academic year, or apply for eligible financial aid through the NYS DREAM Act. Students should also complete any additional requirements necessary to maintain their financial aid eligibility.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the ASAP Program at SUNY Orange, you must:

• Be a New York State resident or qualify for in-state tuition
• Complete the FAFSA, TAP application, and/or DREAM Act application and receive at least $1 of federal Pell Grant or NYS grant aid such as TAP or the Excelsior Scholarship*
• Plan to enroll in at least 12 credits during each fall and spring semester
• Complete any required developmental courses within first year of participation
• Use College support services and resources as needed
• Have completed no more than 21 college credits that apply to your intended program (excluding credits earned in high school)
• Have a minimum of 2.0 GPA if already enrolled at SUNY Orange
• Not already be participating in another support program at SUNY Orange, including EOP, CSTEP, or TRiO
• Be enrolled in one of the following ASAP-approved degree programs:

*Students from mixed status families are now eligible to apply for NYS financial aid without completing the FAFSA using this link. Students may also reach out to ASAP staff to learn more about their options to apply for NYS aid.

Please Note: If you are transferring from another SUNY institution and are a member of an ASAP | ACE program, you are able to transfer your participation to ASAP at SUNY Orange! Please reach out to ASAP Staff directly for more information.

Your Next Steps

To apply for the ASAP Program at SUNY Orange, please:

1. Complete an Interest Form
2. Attend an Intake Session with our ASAP Success Coach
3. Attend an ASAP Institute - Summer Institute in August for fall enrollment or Winter Institute in January for spring enrollment
4. Sign the ASAP Committment Form and schedule your first meeting with your ASAP Success Coach
