Eligibility

Who can participate in CSTEP at SUNY Orange?

Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to participate in the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP):

  • Must be a full-time SUNY Orange student (enrolled in at least 12 credits)

  • Must be a New York State resident

  • Must be economically disadvantaged according to New York State income guidelines

  • Must be pursuing a career in a licensed profession, health-related profession, or a field in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)

  • Must be matriculated in one of the following eligible programs:

    • Accounting (ACC)

    • Architecture (ARC)

    • Business (BUS)

    • Computer Information Technology (CIT)

    • Cyber Security (CYB)

    • Criminal Justice (CRJ)

    • Dental Hygiene (DNT)

    • Education (EDU)

    • Engineering (ENG)

    • Exercise Studies (EXER)

    • Human Services (HUM)

    • Jointly Registered Teacher Education Program (JRTEP)

    • Pre-Health Professions (LASMS)

    • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

    • Nursing (NUR)

    • Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)

    • Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

    • Radiologic Technology (RAD)

       

      Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA at SUNY Orange

Note: In accordance with interim NYSED guidance (July 2025), eligibility is now based solely on economic criteria. Race or ethnicity is not considered for eligibility purposes, though data may still be collected for reporting.

What to Expect as a CSTEP Student

As a member of CSTEP, you are expected to:

  • Maintain at least a 2.00 GPA at SUNY Orange

  • Participate in events and meetings

  • Stay in communication with the CSTEP team

In return, students may benefit from:
