Middletown Campus Construction Updates
Parking & Construction Updates
May 11 2015 - Please be advised that construction of the Rowley Center for Science and Engineering was completed at the beginning of the Fall 2014 semester.
Parking Lot 2 was re-opened behind the Rowley Center to staff and faculty only.
Currently the only construction at the Middletown Campus is on the first floor of Hudson Hall, which is closed for rennovations.
August 15 2013 - Please be advised that parking is no longer allowed on the inter-campus loop near Harriman Hall. This is necessary as this area is an important access way to the Center for Science and Engineering construction site, and cannot be blocked.
Parking or driving on the new sidewalk is prohibited as well.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions or concerns
please call Fred Brennen at 341-4224.
June 23 2013 - The Parking Deck (next to the P.E. building) is closed until the start of the Fall semester. Lot #2 (behind Harriman Hall) is still closed due to the construction of the Center for Science and Engineering building. The Alumni Green and adjacent areas may also have limited access during the summer session due to installation of power lines.
January 9 2013 - On Monday, Jan. 14, the new parking garage at the corner of Wawayanda and East Conkling avenues will be OPEN. The garage will be available for use from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday. Access to the garage will be open to parking tag holders and will available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In conjunction with the garage opening, Tennis Court Drive (the road that winds around the Physical Education Building) will return to one-way status on Monday morning (Jan. 14). Vehicles will enter Tennis Court Drive from South Street and will be required to exit via East Conkling Avenue.
December 4 2012 - The College has learned that Tennis Court Drive (the road that runs adjacent to the Morrison Lab School and behind the Physical Education Building) will return to one-way status on or about Dec. 10. Traffic flow will return to the way it was prior to the construction of the Lab School and parking garage.
Traffic will enter Tennis Court Drive from South Street (at the Lab School), but will then need to proceed one-way around the Physical Education Building before exiting onto East Conkling Avenue.
For safety reasons, those who are dropping children off at the Lab School, or parking in the tennis court parking area, will no longer be able to return to South Street directly from Tennis Court Drive.
August 23 2012 - Please be advised that East Conkling Avenue (the road in front of the Physical Education Building on the Middletown campus) will be closed to vehicular traffic between Wawayanda Avenue and South Street from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays from Friday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Oct. 12.
The closure is required so that the pre-cast walls and decking needed for construction of the Parking Garage adjacent to the PE Building can be delivered and installed. The small parking lot behind the Library is expected to remain accessible from the South Street intersection, however, and pedestrians will be able to utilize the sidewalks of East Conkling Avenue between the PE Building and South Street, including crossing over the street to reach the rest of the campus.
Drivers will need to seek alternative routes to travel from Wawayanda Avenue to South Street during the closure, and should allow extra time in their schedules to accommodate an alternate route.
August 17 2012 - Beginning August 27, a free shuttle will run every 15 minutes from 7:15 a.m. (first pick up from remote lots) through 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Shuttle will run between the remote parking lots and campus Parking Lot 5 located directly across the street from Morrison Hall.
Parking Lot 2 (behind Harriman Hall) and Parking Lot 3 (Physical Education Bldg.) will be closed for the Fall 2012 semester due to construction.
Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for parking and shuttle travel to and from campus.
Off campus parking sites include:
- The Promenade: (formerly the Southwinds Retirement Community) located on the corner of Fulton St. and East Ave. (Access will be via Fulton Street until East Avenue is re-opened).
- The parking lot across from the Federal Court House located at 25 South Street.
- The parking lot across from the Paramount Theatre located at 17 South Street.
June 28 2012 - A temporary construction fence is being installed from the East Conkling Avenue Harriman Hall entrance through the middle of the inner campus green, ending at the corner of Orange Hall. Access to Orange Hall will not be affected from the inner campus.
Harriman Hall parking lot will be unavailable. The entrance to Orange Hall parking lot from Wawayanda Avenue will be closed until further notice. Access to Orange Hall parking lot will be through Grandview Avenue only.
Due to construction of the P.E. Garage, Parking Lot 3 is CLOSED(corner of Wawayanda Avenue and East Conkling Street) This lot will be unavailable for use through to the end of the year.
We appreciate your patience in the coming months. When the parking garage is complete, the College will have added more than 350 much-needed new parking spaces.
In the interim, feel free to utilize any of the other student parking lots. The College has also arranged for students to park at several off-campus locations, including The Promenade (formerly the Southwinds Retirement Community facility located at the corner of Fulton and East streets) and the Federal Court parking lot along South Street near the Paramount Theatre.
Due to extremely low usage, the shuttle bus service to the remote lots has been cancelled for the rest of the semester. The shuttle will resume operations on Aug. 27, the first day of Fall 2012 semester classes.
If you will be using the remote lots, it is recommended that you leave an ample amount of extra time to ensure you can arrive at your class on time.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding.
January 2012 - 30 parking spots in parking lot number 11 (adjacent to the Tennis Courts on South Street) are closed as the construction of the new Lab School Building continues.
There is optional parking at South Winds, located at the intersection of Fulton St.
and East Avenue - a short walk from campus.
The parking lot at South Winds is available for faculty, staff and student parking on a regular basis in the coming months, particularly as the College continues with several construction projects that will affect parking in other parts of campus as well. Members of the College community are encouraged to utilize that area when necessary.
