CASAC / CASAC-T (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor / Trainee)
The CASAC / CASAC-T program at SUNY Orange Plus prepares individuals to pursue a meaningful career in the field of substance use disorder counseling and recovery support. This comprehensive training is designed for those who are passionate about helping individuals, families, and communities impacted by addiction.
Through this program, students will gain the foundational knowledge and practical skills required to work in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, community-based organizations, and residential treatment facilities.
What is CASAC / CASAC-T?
The Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) is a New York State-recognized credential for professionals who provide counseling and support services to individuals with substance use disorders.
The CASAC-T (Trainee) designation allows students to begin working in the field while completing the required education and supervised experience hours toward full CASAC certification.
Program Overview
This program provides the required education hours aligned with New York State standards and prepares students to pursue CASAC-T certification upon completion.
Students will explore:
