Program Description:

The Paramedic Training Program is a rigorous and hands-on program designed for certified EMTs seeking to elevate their skills and advance their careers in emergency medical services. This program mirrors the high standards of LaGuardia Community College’s Paramedic curriculum, offering advanced training, real-world clinical experience, and preparation for state and national paramedic certification exams.

Students gain in-depth knowledge and experience in life-saving techniques, trauma and medical emergency care, and advanced patient management under the guidance of experienced instructors, physicians, and EMS professionals. The program includes classroom instruction, lab simulations, and over 500 hours of supervised clinical rotations at hospitals and EMS agencies across New York City.

What You’ll Learn:

Clinical & Technical Skills

  • Advanced airway management, EKG interpretation, and cardiac life support
  • Intravenous therapy and pharmacology
  • Trauma assessment, spinal immobilization, and hemorrhage control
  • Pediatric, obstetric, and psychiatric emergency care
  • EMS operations and medical/legal responsibilities

Certifications & Specialized Training:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
  • Psychological Trauma in EMS Patients (PTEP)

Course Features:

  • Duration: 12 months (Certificate track)

Pre-Screening Requirement:

Before enrolling in the Paramedic Training Program, all prospective students must complete a mandatory pre-screening to ensure readiness for the academic and clinical rigor of the course. 

Pre-Screening Includes:

  • Math Assessment: Basic algebra, ratios, dosage calculations
  • Reading Comprehension Test: Healthcare scenarios and terminology
  • EMT Knowledge Exam: Assessment of core EMT concepts and protocols

Prerequisites:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold a valid New York State EMT certification
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Complete and pass the pre-screening exam
  • Provide proof of immunizations, background check, and program orientation attendance

Program Cost : $20,000
Includes textbooks, certification courses (BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.), clinical lab supplies, uniforms, insurance, and registration fees.
