Course Sequence
This information is provided for your convenience only; for definitive course sequence information students should refer to the printed College Catalog and to their academic advisor.
The basic course in calculus and engineering physics constitute the nucleus of this program for students who plan to specialize in mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, biological, environmental or aeronautical engineering at a four-year college. Selected courses in liberal arts support and enhance the core study.
To initiate this program students must have tested into Calculus l (MAT 205) or must have completed either College Trigonometry (MAT 122) or Pre-Calculus Mathematics (MAT 131). It is possible to take the prerequisite math courses during the Summer sessions to prepare for Calculus I in the Fall. A student who does not meet this requirement should not be discouraged but should meet with an advisor regarding a planned course of study. See note below and consult suggested three-year program on following page.

Engineering Elective Options:
Students must take a minimum of 2 courses from the following depending upon their area of specialization:
Thermodynamics (EGR 214) summer
Solid Mechanics (EGR 220) spring
Circuit Theory (EGR 212) spring
Modern Physics (PHY 204)
Materials Science (EGR 218) fall
Linear Algebra (MAT 211) fall/summer
Engineering Computations (EGR 216)
Physical Geology (GLG 110) fall/spring
Students majoring in chemical, biological or environmental engineering should plan on to take:
Organic Chemistry 1 (CHM 201) and Organic Chemistry 2 (CHM 202)
CHM 202 may be substituted for EGR 206 with permission from the department chair.
Computer Engineering majors should take:
Computer Science 1 and 2 (CSC 101 and 102) and Data Structures (CSC 201). (CSC 101 may be substituted for EGR 102 and CSC 201 may be substituted for EGR 206 with the permission of the department chair.) Proper advising is crucial for proper course selection.
Optional Extended Program
The Engineering program can be completed on a part-time basis over a longer period than four semesters. Often students who have missed foundation courses in high school, or who have job or family commitments, have enrolled in a reduced number of courses each semester and have completed them with great success. If this approach is desirable, speak with a member of the Engineering faculty who will assist you in arranging a reduced load program to meet individual needs. We include a sample block of how such a program might appear.

Students should meet with their advisor in order to choose one or more additional courses (3 to 7 credits) for these first two semesters. The recommendation is that these courses be in basic science or taken from the SUNY General Education Requirements list, such as:
SUNY Social Science List credits: 3 OR PHY 101 General Physics 1 credits 4
