Orange County Food Training and Education Center (FoodTEC) is a workforce and skills development training and education center located at SUNY Orange on the Newburgh campus.
FoodTEC is a hub for preparing individuals in the region’s food & beverage, hospitality & tourism, and environmental health and food safety workforce. It provides industry-recognized training and certifications for a wide range of industry occupations and creates career and educational pathways.
The mission of FoodTEC is to provide and support workforce development and job training opportunities, certification, and internships to assist job seekers and workers in obtaining and advancing in jobs that provide sustaining wages and benefits while supporting the economic development of Orange County and its surrounding areas.

FoodTEC is offering low cost online and on-site training in culinary arts, hospitality and tourism, food safety, food manufacturing and food service.

Food Safety Quality Control Program
The 15 - week Food Safety Quality Control Program will provide the skills and on-the-job training necessary to obtain an entry-level job or get promoted to a higher-level position in the Health and Food Safety sector of the industry.
This comprehensive workforce development program is designed to equip participants with the essential skills, ServSafe certifications, OSHA certification, HACCP and HAZCOM trainings, NY Sexual harassment training, American Heart CPR training, GMP skills and practical experience necessary. Through a structured curriculum and hands-on training, students will gain technical expertise, professional skills, and the confidence to thrive in these industries.
THIS IS A 15 WEEK TRAINING PROGRAM.

Culinary Arts 15-Week Workforce Training
Maybe you are already working in the food industry or perhaps have a desire to work in a professional kitchen, our 15-week culinary art program can train you and change your life. With a curriculum carefully designed by industry professionals, you will gain the skills and knowledge to land or enhance your position or enter the industry to earn an average of $44,500. 12-Week Hospitality Industry Certificate Program
If your vision is growing and achieving long-term success in the hospitality & tourism industry, then register for our 12- week Hospitality & Tourism Workforce Program. Our workforce development program provides career readiness, including Industry-recognized certificate training and assistance with job placement in the hospitality, guest services, and tourism industries.
Overall employment of food and beverage servers and related workers is projected to grow 53 percent from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations.
Currently, workers in New York earn an average $43,6000, 10% of workers earn $57,090 for food and beverage servers and related workers.

Dietitian Assistant 15-Week Workforce Training
The 15- week Dietitian workforce program will provide the skills and on-the-job training necessary to obtain an entry-level job or get promoted to a higher-level position in the healthcare food nutrition sector of the industry.
This comprehensive workforce development program is designed to equip participants with the entry-level skills for a Dietitian Assistant working in healthcare-food service. The program offers career readiness, ServSafe certifications, OSHA certification, NY Sexual harassment training, American Heart CPR training, food and nutrition skills. Through a structured curriculum and hands-on training, students will gain technical expertise, professional skills, and the confidence to thrive in these industries.

Completing the Guest Service Gold®: Golden Opportunities online course helps prepare
you for the Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP) certification exam.
After completion of training, the CGSP exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions to be answered within one hour. Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% to earn the CGSP certification. Recognized worldwide, CGSP certification is the highest acknowledgment of award-winning guest service for employees in the lodging industry.

Commercial Kitchen and Event Space
OC FoodTEC at SUNY Orange Newburgh offers a variety of facilities that can accommodate groups of 20 to 150, Incubator kitchens, demo kitchens and spaces available for your organization’s conferences and meetings ranging from state-of-the-art kitchens and beautiful event space overlooking the grand Hudson River. Spaces are handicapped accessible and come with a range of optional amenities including catering, parking, and audiovisual services.
