Becoming a Teaching Assistant

SUNY Orange’s Teaching Assistant Certificate program is designed to help students meet the educational requirements for Teaching Assistant Certification in New York.  The 25-credit Teaching Assistant certificate program offers a variety of flexible options, and allows enrolled students to take courses that align with their goals and interests.  Requirements for New York State Teaching Assistant Certification can be found at the following website:

Individuals looking to attain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification will be required to pass the Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills (ATAS) examination.  Information regarding this examination can be found at the following website.
