New START Workshops and New Student Advising
NEWLY ADMITTED?
All newly admitted students must complete a New START workshop (New Student Advising and Registration Tutorial).
The New Student Advising and Registration Tutorial, or New START, is a two part workshop designed to help students
- navigate their mySUNYOrange account
- learn about important deadlines and requirements to complete their registration
- learn about academic planning, course requirements, and degree tracks, using their chosen plan of study
- prepare for their academic advising appointment and learn how to create a draft class schedule
Newly accepted students complete the New START workshop online through their Student Academics page in their mySUNYOrange account. The link to make an appointment with an advisor and register for classes is embedded at the end of the online workshop presentation.
All students meet with an Academic Advisor to create a class schedule and register online. Registration appointments are hosted through Zoom or in person. For Zoom appointments, students will need a computer to connect both audio and video.
New students should schedule a New START when the following criteria have been met:
-
Student has been accepted to SUNY Orange
-
Student has received scores for English and Math Placements or been granted a waiver
-
Student has submitted Immunization records
-
Student has submitted certificate of residence (will not prevent registration)
Students will receive instructions from Admissions.
If you have any questions about your invitation to sign up for a New START workshop, please contact the Office of Admissions at (845) 341-4030 or at apply@sunyorange.edu.
