English and Math Placements

All incoming students will be assessed based on the following criteria:

English Placements

English placements will be determined based on averaging the High School Grade Point Averages (HSGPA) and 11th Grade English Scores or English Language Arts Regents.

Action Required: If you have not done so already, please have your high school send your official transcript to the Office of Admissions. We cannot accept transcripts directly from students.

Notification: You will be notified by email once your English placement has been finalized.

Math Placements

Math placement is determined in one of two ways, depending on your prior education:

If you have a high school diploma, a superintendent's letter for homeschooling, or a college degree: You will complete the Math Placement Survey for Spring 2026

If you have a GED, High School Equivalency (HSE), or an international high school diploma: You will complete an in-person assessment using Stemify.

Notification: You will be notified by email once your Math placement has been finalized.

Students with College, AP or CLEP Credits

If you have earned a "C" or better in a college-level English or math course, or have AP or CLEP credits in these subjects, you may be able to waive the placement requirements.

To request a waiver: Please submit a Placement Requirements Waiver  and upload an unofficial college transcript or your official AP/CLEP score report for consideration.

Important: Only include college transcripts or AP/CLEP scores with your waiver request. We cannot use high school transcripts to review a placement waiver request
