Raheem Maxwell
Hello, I’m Prof. Maxwell. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Purchase College (2011) and a Master of Arts in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Iona College (2013). Following graduation, I began my academic career as an adjunct instructor at SUNY Orange and various colleges in Westchester, Dutchess, and Orange Counties. In 2022, I achieved tenure and am currently an Assistant Professor at SUNY Orange.
Throughout my tenure, I have actively participated in several committees, including the Honors Advisory Board. I mentor Capstone research projects, provide academic and career advising, and volunteer to advise student clubs as needed. In addition to my role at SUNY Orange, I teach at Shawangunk Correctional Facility and serve as a Mental Health Crisis Counselor with the Mental Health Association of Orange County.
I am deeply committed to fostering critical thinking, effective science communication, and civil discourse. My advocacy work focuses on parental rights, socioeconomic disparities, racial and gender-based inequities, vaccine safety, and bodily autonomy/reproductive freedom issues. Additionally, I am a staunch ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
I leverage my personal and professional experiences to enhance student success, which I define as academic achievement and personal and professional growth.
