Reading / Writing Center

The Reading/Writing Center is now closed for Spring 2023.

Have a wonderful summer!  See you in the Fall!

Who We Are

Reading/Writing Center instructors are faculty members in the English Department.  Our goal is to provide all students with the reading and writing supplementary instruction and support they need to be successful in their college courses.

How We Work

For in-person hours, please arrive at the time you signed up for and a Reading/Writing Center instructor will explain exactly what you need to do.  You must stay for fifty minutes to get credit for the hour.

For online hours, at the beginning of your hour, a Reading/Writing Center instructor will email you to get you started on an assignment.  You and your Reading/Writing Center instructor will work together using Google Docs throughout the fifty minutes.  If you do not respond to the instructor's email or work with your Reading/Writing Center instructor through Google Docs, you will not receive credit for the hour.

How to Sign Up

For in-person hours, come to the Reading/Writing Center in Middletown (Library 213) or Newburgh (Kaplan 225) and sign up for the hour that works best for you.  If the Reading/Writing Center is closed, you may email us: ReadingWritingCenter@sunyorange.edu.

To sign up for an online hour in the Reading/Writing Center, click on the schedule: Online Hours, find a day and hour that will work for you, and then email the Reading/Writing Center at ReadingWritingCenter@sunyorange.edu to request that hour.  Be sure to include your course number and section letter in your email.  The Reading/Writing Center responds to emails Monday through Friday 9:00-1:00. Also, please keep in mind that to accommodate as many students as possible you may only sign up for one hour each week.

We look forward to working with you!
