SSN or Tax Identification Number is required by the IRS for reporting of tuition and related expenses for tax purposes and for financial aid. Complete the Substitute form W-9S, and submit to Student Services Central.
How do I receive a copy of my 1098T form?
The IRS requires Form 1098T to be postmarked by January 31 of the following calendar year. If you do not receive your form by then and cannot access the form online after that date please contact ECSI to assist you. If you experience problems accessing ECSI's 1098-T Website, please contact ECSI at 1-866-428-1098. New students to ECSI will be provided with a login, which can be obtained by the directions on the new form itself when it arrives. This form is mailed to the permanent address of a student who was enrolled at SUNY Orange for at least half time during the calendar year. You may opt to receive an electronic 1098-T, as well as download your 1098T from the ECSI website (College Name = Orange County Community College)
How can I view my 1098-T form online?
1098-T Statements are available each year by January 31st.
To view and print a 1098-T statement:
- Go to: https://heartland.ecsi.net/
- Click the box, “Access your 1098 Tax Documentation,” (last row, middle column)
- Click the box, “Want to look up your 1098-T tax form?”
- Click the box, “I need my 1098-T Tuition tax statement”
- Enter the school name: Orange County Community College (you will enter this on top of the grey wording “school name”)
- Next, enter your required personal information
- On the final screen, you will see “1098-T Statement,” to the far right click “View Details”

How can I find out if I am eligible for a tax benefit?
Neither SUNY Orange nor its Tax Credit Reporting Service (ECSI) can provide individual income tax advice. After reviewing this information, if you have any 1098-T Tax Related Questions, regarding your tax credit, your eligibility, reporting your tax credit on your tax return, or any other 1098-T specific concerns, please consult your Tax Professional or the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or www.irs.gov.
Why is there an amount in Box 1, but Box 2 is blank?
Due to a change to institutional reporting requirements under federal law, begininng with tax year 2018, SUNY Orange will report in Box 1 the amount of payments received for qualified tuition and related expenses paid during the calendar (tax year) 2018.
Box 1 will reflect the total payments from any source received by an eligible educational institution in 2018 for qualified tution and related expenses less any reimbursements or refunds made during 2018 that relate to payments received during 2018. Please note the amount in Box 1 will NOT equal to or sum to the charges paid for calendar year 2018 because all charges are not considered qualified tuition and related expenses as defined by the Internal Revenue Service.
Note: If you registered and paid for Spring 2018 classes in 2017, those payments will not be included on the 2018 1098-T. Also, if you register and pay for Spring 2019 classes in 2018, those payments will be included on the 2018 1098-T.
I believe my 1098-T contains incorrect information. How can this be corrected?
Contact Student Services Central by email at: email@example.com. Please include your Student ID number and explain what you feel is incorrect. If you are right, a corrected from will be issued.
