ATI-TEAS Testing Procedures

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a multiple-choice exam designed to measure the basic knowledge and skills of prospective nursing students.  

Students with testing accommodations who would like to use their accommodations must speak with the Office of Accessibility Services prior to scheduling a test date.

Testing Locations:

  1. Test with SUNY Orange in person. Please use the links below to schedule a test date.
  2. Test virtually with ATI. ATI offers online TEAS test proctoring directly through the ATI website. 
  3. Test at an ATI approved testing location.

Testing Procedures:

  • Register with ATI by creating an ATI account. SUNY Orange is listed as "Orange County CC ADN." SUNY Orange test scheduling is not through the ATI website.
  • Schedule a test at SUNY Orange. In person only. Remote testing is not offered at SUNY Orange

Schedule a test date

SUNY Orange proctoring fee:

No fee - currently enrolled SUNY Orange students
$50 - non-SUNY Orange students

Payment is made in person at Student Services Central (SSC). Allow yourself sufficient time to make the payment prior to the start of your test.

Middletown SSC location: third floor of the Shepard Student Center 
Newburgh SSC location: first floor of Kaplan Hall. 

Accepted payment options: cash, check and credit card (no American Express). 
*Proctoring fee is separate from the ATI fee.

Day of the Test (required items and ATI fee)

  • School or government-issued photo identification (such as a driver's license or passport)
  • Receipt for $50 assessment fee (non-SUNY Orange students only)
  • Your ATI username and password
  • Valid debit or credit card to pay the ATI test fee (under $100). 
    • You will pay the ATI exam fee (under $100 *Subject to change as per ATI) online before beginning the test. This payment can be made only by debit or credit card. ATI does not accept prepaid cards.

It is recommended that you allow yourself approximately four hours total to complete your exam.

Scores

  • Scores are available immediately after completing the exam and can be viewed at any time by signing into your  ATI account.
  • Current or prospective SUNY Orange students must send a PDF copy of their scores to apply@sunyorange.edu after testing. 
  • Scores are valid for two years.

Retesting

SUNY Orange students must wait a minimum of 45 days before retesting. Students may take the test twice within an academic year (August to July).
